Screen Shot 2011-08-22 at 11.37.08 AMAeroplan is once again running a points transfer promotion from many of the popular hotel loyalty programs, providing up to 5000 bonus miles. When transferring enough hotel points to receive 5000 Aeroplan miles you will receive a 1000 mile bonus. A transfer equalling 10000 Aeroplan miles, you will receive 2000 bonus miles. Transfer 25000 miles or more, and receive a 5000 mile bonus.

Available hotel programs to transfer from and their conversion rates, cover most of the major popular loyalty programs, including:

- Starwood Preferred Guest (1:1)
- Best Western Rewards (5:1)
- Marriott Rewards (10000:2000)
- Hilton Honours (10000:1000)
- Priority Club Rewards (10000:2000)
- Accor A|Club (up to 2:1)
- Club Carlson
- Choice Privileges (5:1)
- Coast Rewards (1:1)
- Hyatt Gold Passport (2.5:1)
- Shangri-La Golden Circle
- Wyndham Rewards (2.5:1)

Just remember, that the bonus is based on how many Aeroplan Miles your transfer will net, not the number of hotel points you have to transfer. And why would you do this? The only time I would make a conversion is if I absolutely needed the miles for an Aeroplan Reward Redemption, or had some points in a hotel program that were going to expire, or didn't have enough for a redemption.

Crack The CaseI recently wrote about how lucrative Priority Club's "Crack the Case" promotion will be for me, but there is another upside to it which I have not yet mentioned. I thought it was pretty significant on its own, that it deserved a separate blog post.

I currently stand at 51,756 points for this year. To achieve Platinum Status you require 60,000 points or 50 nights a year. Priority Club is a little different, in that they award Elite Status based on the number of nights or the number of points you accumulate. Since points are earned on each dollar you spend, you might think that the more you spend with Intercontinental Hotels Group, the more points you earn. But seeing as they often have some fantastic promotions, such as the current Crack the Case promo, Top Tier Platinum Status is actually quite easy to attain!

Crack The CaseI had read recently about a targeted promotion online that Priority Club was running called "Crack the Case", but as I had not been targeted this time around, I didn't think much about it until I went to the mailbox last week.

I found a card inviting me to participate in the Crack the Case Promotion, and it provided an Offer Code to enter onto the promotion website. When I went to signup online, I was pleasantly surprised to find a rather lucrative promotion!

The premise behind the "Crack the Case" promo is that you complete a series of challenges, and you are awarded a number of Priority Club points for each challenge you complete. Once you complete all five challenges, you "Crack the Case" and are awarded a rather large lump sum of Priority Club Points... In my case 116,000 points!

The missions that I have to complete are:

  • Take a Survey - 2,000 points
  • Opt-In for Emails - 10,000 points
  • Stay 10 Room Nights - 3,900 points
  • Stay at 5 Brands - 4,400 points
  • Stay 2 Saturdays - 3,000 points

Including the 119,000 points for completing all 5, I will receive 139,600 points!

Every once in a while you come across a story online that makes you wonder if someone has come up with a great idea, or one of the stupidest ideas you have ever heard of! This Story which appeared in the Telegraph a couple of days ago is one such story.

Apparently, the thinking is that when you start to go to sleep, if you are in a warm bed, you might fall asleep faster and deeper, than if you start in a cold bed. So instead of providing hot water bottles, or an electric blanket, Holiday Inn is going to begin a test of having a Human Bed Warmer, adorned in a onesie, crawl into bed for five minutes before you do, to warm things up!

Although it sounds like a decent idea... I am not sure how I feel, or how my wife would feel about a stranger crawling into my bed to warm it up!

I'll leave the jokes up to you!
